DR Help, release 6, BETA VERSION -------------------------------- DH-BETA6.ZIP Word for Windows macro which translates Word documents into Windows Help files. This is a BETA version. DO NOT UPLOAD THIS BETA VERSION TO ANY OTHER BBS OR FTP SITE! REFER ALL ENQUIRIES TO ROGER.HADGRAFT@ENG.MONASH.EDU.AU. This version is designed exclusively for Word for Windows 6 and 7, and will NOT work with Word 2. Some adjustments for Windows 95 have been made. Some further work is required. Report problems to the author (see below). It is a work in progress. Existing users should use INSTALL.DOC to re-install the package. This product was formerly called Doctor Help. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tired of trying to build Windows Help files? Trying to maintain printed documentation as well as on-line help files for your users? This macro is for you! Encapsulated in a Template file, HELPFILE.DOT for Word for Windows, the macro uses the document's outline structure (defined by the Heading 1, Heading 2, etc styles to build a hierarchically structured Windows HLP file. Cross references can also be defined. Keywords are automatically defined in by splitting the title of each topic into separate words. This BETA version contains a range of improvements that are documented in RELEASE6.HLP. The evaluation version supports ALL features, but is limited to 30 topics, whereas the registered version has a limit of 2,000 topics (although you may run out of memory before you reach that). This version replaces DRHELPE5.ZIP, DRHELPE4.ZIP, DRHELPE3.ZIP and DRHELPEV.ZIP (release 2) and HELPOUTL.ZIP (release 1). This macro will be of interest to anyone using Word for Windows who wants to translate existing DOC files into HLP files (for example, I am using this approach in providing course materials for my students), and, of course, to developers, who will find this path much easier than building the help files in the ways described in the Help Compiler manual. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Installation: ------------- 1. Create a directory on your hard disk, eg. C:\WINDOWS\DRHELP or C:\Program Files\DR Help. ANY directory is fine. 2. Copy the zip file there and unzip it. 3. Open INSTALL.DOC. This file contains a macro which will install the files for you. It is activated by double clicking on the appropriate button in INSTALL.DOC. You need at least version 3.10.505 of the Help Compiler. This can be obtained from many sources on the Internet, eg ftp.microsoft.com. The installation process allows you to find the Help Compiler on your disk. You may also use HCW.EXE (WinHelp 4). ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Registration is US$40 or A$40.
